Hello Dodo

We are mountain
Confession no. 1: I am a secret shopaholic
So my first confession is that I cannot pass by quirky, lovely things made by interesting designers without handing over some cold hard cash. Imagine my delight; while strolling down the hill past the Coastguard Cottages in Seaford, I stumbled upon a fantastic pop up shop! Venue 45 on the art wave trail: We are Mountain and Friends (6 Coastguard Cottages, BN25, 4AR.)
We are mountain aka Sophie Mutter based in Brighton, designs and prints pop art style tea towels, prints, bags and I couldn’t resist buying earrings by Stof Studios which is her actually her cousin. A talented family, and I was also amazed to hear that Sophie is the the great, great grand daughter of the last surviving coast guard who lived in the cottage.
More was yet to come, further down the path another art wave venue appeared. Keith Pettit is a Sussex based artist who is inspired by the iconic Sussex landscape. His black and white woodcut prints were absolutely beautiful, he told me that apparently it is the only homegrown English printmaking technique we can lay claim to….owt is better than nowt! The exhibition runs for 3 weekends between 17th August and 1st September and is well worth the beautiful walk down from South Barn car park.
Get outdoors to South Barn/ Cuckmere Haven and buy local or find out more about these fab designers/ artists:
